Windows 2003 Web Edition
From SuperbHosting.net Support Wiki
Windows Server 2003, Web Edition is mainly used for building and hosting Web applications, Web pages and XML Web Services. It is designed to be used primarily as an IIS 6.0 Web server and provide a platform for rapidly developing and deploying MXL Web services and applications that use ASP.NET technology, a key part of the .NET Framework. The edition does not require Client Access Licenses and Terminal Server mode is not included on Web Edition. However, Remote Desktop for Administration is available on Windows Server 2003, Web Edition.
Web Edition allows only 10 concurrent file-sharing connections at any given moment. It is not possible to install Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Exchange Software in this edition.
MSDE and SQL Server 2005 Express are fully supported after service pack 1 is installed. Despite supporting XML Web services and ASP.NET, UDDI cannot be deployed on Windows Server 2003, Web Edition, but can be installed as a separate update from Microsoft Windows Update.
Windows Server 2003, Web Edition supports a maximum of two processors with support for a maximum of 2GB of RAM. Additionally, Windows Server 2003, Web Edition cannot act as a domain controller. It is also the only version of Windows Server 2003 that does not include client number limitation upon Windows Update services as it does not require Client Access Licenses.
