Ubuntu is an operating system designed for use in desktops, laptops and servers. One of Ubuntu’s main goals is providing an up-to-date and fully stable Linux distribution for the average user and boasts a strong focus on usability and super easy installation.

Ubuntu is a derivative of Debian and the unique name of this distribution comes from the African concept, ubuntu which means, if you might allow a rough translation, “humanity towards others – we are people because of other people – I am who I am because of who we all are”.

This Linux distribution is named as such in an effort to welcome the spirit of this ubuntu philosophy to the software world. Ubuntu is free software and can thusly be shared by any number of users.
