SATA
From SuperbHosting.net Support Wiki
Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) is a computer bus designed primarily for the purpose of transfering data between a computer and mass storage devices, such as hard disk drives and optical drives.
The main advantages are as follows:
- SATA provides faster data transfer
- SATA offers the ability to remove or add devices while operating (this process is called 'hot swapping')
- SATA employs thinner cables that allow air cooling to work more efficiently
- SATA has a more reliable operation with tighter data integrity checks
