Renewing an expired domain

This article covers renewing and re-activiting expired domains.

When a domain name has expired, SuperbRegistrar becomes the owner of that domain. When this happens, the domain is deactivated and no longer points to your website. We are the registrar for your name, but as the previous owner, you can still renew it.

If you have your own SuperbRegistrar account, you can renew the name directly:

  1. Login to your myCP account.
  2. Choose menu option Products & Services and then click on the Renew menu.
  3. Find the domain(s) you wish to reactivate in your list and click to put a checkmark in the box to the left of the domain, then click the Add to Cart button and complete the checkout process.
  4. Once you reactive the domain, you need to enter the DNS and Nameservers information.

If the domain(s) are not listed in the renewal form, the domain may expire more than 60 days. If you think that it's an error in our system, please open a ticket and we will fix it for you.

NOTE: All renewals are non-refundable and we cannot remove extra years that are added in error. Please verify before you hit the Place Order button.

Once a domain is renewed, the Registry does not provide an option to delete the renewal for refund, nor can you remove a specific number of years if you renewed for more years than you intended. This is out of our control.

Once a domain expires, it is removed from the Registry's zone files and your site will go down along with your email. While the domain is being renewed, it can take up to 48 hours for the domain to become active again. After you re-activate the domain, we will restore the previous settings so you do not need to re-enter this information. But if you need instructions for entering DNS or pointing your domain, please see the DNS and Nameservers article section to help you.

Please note that only .com, .net, .org, and .cc domain names can be reactivated after they have expired. All other TLDs will be deleted upon expiration without any grace period.

Renewing an expired .ca domain

There are no refunds on .ca renewal orders of expired domains. CIRA, the .ca Registry, does not have a grace period for refunds on renewed domains.

As all renewal orders are final, please be sure you intend to renew the domain (or remove the auto-renewal flag if you are not sure).

Renewing an expired .cn domain

If you are experiencing errors trying to renew your .cn name, more than likely it is because the domain is more than 3 days beyond the expiration date.

Once a .cn name expires, we only have 3 days to renew the domain, and then it is removed and totally deactivated. The only way to get it back is to re-register the domain. This is a registry procedure and there is no way to override this restriction.

Renewing an expired .cc, .bz, .tv domain

As of December 14, 2004, .cc, .bz, and .tv now all have the same business rules as .com and .net as they are managed by VeriSign Registry.

After the .cc, .bz or .tv domain expires and completes any complimentary grace period, it will be deleted from the account. It then enters the Redemption Grace Period for 30 days during which we can restore the domain at the "then current" restoration fees. Current redemption fees are $160 - $300 per domain depending upon status and TLD, plus the renewal fee.

If not restored, on the 31st day, it will enter the 5 day Pending Delete period and be deleted on the 36th day at 2:00 PM EST.
