Python is a high-level, general-purpose programming language. Its design puts a heavy emphasis on programmer productivity and code readability. Although Python's standard library is comprehensive and large in size, its core syntax takes a minimalist approach.

First released in 1991 and featuring an open, community-based development model, Python can support a number of programming paradigms and features a fully dynamic tape system and automatic memory management (like Perl, Ruby, Scheme and TCL.)
