Meta Tags are specialized HTML instructions or messages to engines that should always be included in your HTML documents. Meta Tags play an important role with respect to the ranking position of your site. Though they are crucial elements to search engine ranking, they are not the only things that need to be considered; whether they stand alone or are working in conjunction with other search engine optimization methds, you need to be careful how you use them. Sometimes they can even lower the ranking of your site.

For example, if you repeat keywords too many times or add terms and phrases that are not related to your site, the search engine may be prepared for this and lower the importance of your site search ranking and even remove or ban it.
