Forwarding an email to multiple addresses

There are two rules you need to know first:

  • A normal user can only forward an email to ONE address. A user can keep a copy of the email and at the same time, forward the email to another address.
  • A forward can forward email to multiple addresses. A forward can only forward email to other addresses, but cannot keep the copy under its own account.

So before you create the email address, you need to decide which account is best for you. Usually, people will use a forward for multiple forwarding.

If in a special situation, you need a normal email address which can keep the copy of the email, and at the same time, you want to forward the email to multiple addresses, there is a trick:

  1. Create a user like info@domainname.com
  2. Create a forward like info-forward@domainname.com. You can forward email to multiple addresses here.
  3. Edit the info@domainname.com account by editing the Vacation/Forward Settings.
  4. Forward the email to info-forward@domainname.com

So a user and a forward will work together to forward the email to multiple addresses and at the same time, keep a copy in info@domainname.com.
