A binary large object has come to be known as a blob and it represents a collection of binary data stored as a single item in a database management system. Blobs are usually images, audio or other multimedia objects, though sometimes binary executable code is stored as a blob. Database support for blobs is not universal.

Tinyblob, blob, mediumblob, and longblob are data types.
