Anti-SPAM (AS) Service

Our Anti-Spam service uses a number of clever heuristic tests on mail headers and body text to determine whether they are spams. Additionally, our service heavily relies on Bayesian statistical analysis to help sniff out spams. If it determines that an e-mail "looks" like a spam, it gives it a positive spam score. The higher the score, the more likely it is that the e-mail is a spam. If the spam tag score reaches a certain threshold, customizable by you, the e-mail will be tagged with ****SPAM**** in the subject so that you can decide for yourself whether or not to delete it. You can set up a filter to place e-mail with this tag in a different folder for later analysis if you wish.

There is also another score you can set called the spam drop score. If the spam score is higher than this number, the system will reject the e-mail outright in order to save our systems from continue handling what we deem as sure spams.

Please Note: Spam detection is a tricky business. Spammers are trying every possible strategies to thwart detection. Therefore it is given that some non-spam e-mail may be falsely tagged. So if you observe legitimate mailing list e-mails routinely labeled as spams (false positive), you can add entire domains or specific addresses to your own per-domain white list.
Conversely, some spam e-mail may not be tagged (false negative). You can add domains or specific add resses to your own per-domain black list.

Reporting False Positive

Because spam fighting is not an exact science, from time to time, albeit rare, you will see a legitimate e-mail get falsely labelled as spam. To help us reduce the number of these false positives, please forward them *as attachements* to <ham @ dev.superb.net>

Reporting False Negative

It is given that some spam e-mail will escape detection. You can help reduce the number of these false negatives by forwarding these spam e-mail *as attachements* to <spam @ dev.superb.net>. Please do NOT forward e-mail that have already been tagged as spams. Note. We as for attachements instead of regular forward so that the original headers can be preserved. If you are using OE, there is already an option to forward as attachement. If you are using Outlook, you will need to configure that in Tools->Options->Preferences->Email Option->Attach original message
