Don't Get Caught In Traffic

Stop Hack Attacks! When managing your server, it is important to pay attention to the amount of traffic or bandwidth that your server is using. Unsecured servers are the target of malicious hackers looking to piggy-back their spamming efforts - and their costs - onto your dedicated hosting. Inside your myCP® customer portal, you can setup a warning system to alert you of unusually high traffic and prevent unwanted charges for exceeding your allowed bandwidth.

When you log into myCP®, click on 'Traffic Charts / Warning System.' In the third section of the page, set up an amount of traffic (in MBs per day) that seems reasonable for your typical bandwidth requirements. Most packages come with between 1GB and 2GB of bandwidth, so you can simply average your monthly traffic to between 30MB and 60MB per day.

We are currently looking at upgrading the warning system to help prevent unauthorized bandwidth usage, but it is up to you to secure and monitor your server. Reviewing your traffic monthly for any unusual spikes in usage is another good habit. If you are concerned about the security of your server or think it may have been compromised, contact your Sales Representative or Sales@Superb.net for information on a security audit of your server.
