Other Networks Blocking Mail
Several major E-mail providers, like MSN Live/Hotmail, have tightened their spam complaint policies and are blocking mail servers to help prevent spam.
A contact at Spamhaus.org has stated that Superb is definitely not the only provider affected and that refining these thresholds is currently being addressed by those providers, but these are automated processes and are difficult to predict. When we find out our servers have been blocked, we make adjustments as quickly as possible.
Our anti-spam policies target those customers who are affecting the service of other customers. If the thresholds of another provider are tightened, we must also tighten our policies to avoid service interruption for other customers. In order to avoid innocent customers from being affected, we are now receiving and processing complaints of spam from more sources, and we will be more aware of who is generating complaints and have some pre-warning that a mail server will be blocked. This is in addition to manual complaints and sources already being processed such as Spamcop.
Along with increased monitoring of the mail servers, we are also taking steps that will increase the security and reliability of our mail servers. While these steps may result in a minor inconvenience to a small number of customers, they are an important part of maintaining the level of service that our customers expect and keep Superb "Ahead of the Rest®".
